RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY

Facial reanimation

The loss of animation or weakness on one side of the face affects not just the function but also the appearance and balance of the face. Nerve grafts from other parts of the body can treat both facial nerve damage and the facial nerve itself. One procedure uses small tubes surgically implanted in the face to guide regrowth of the facial nerve.

Bells palsy is the most common cause of facial paralysis and may often be amendable to surgical treatment. Bells palsy can impair speech, keep eyelids from closing completely, cause drooling and leave facial features drooping.
