COSMETIC SURGERY

Hair transplants

Hair is lost naturally on a daily basis. Hair thinning (alopecia) leads to baldness when this natural loss greatly exceeds hair growth. It may be caused by heredity, hormones and age and although there is a range of options for treating conditions such as male pattern baldness, only hair transplant can permanently restore hair.

Transplantation takes strong hair follicular units of up to 4 strands of hair from the back and sides of the head and places them into the thinning or balding areas. This achieves nature's random follicular grouping that will grow to give a natural appearance undetectable from the individual's existing hair.

The whole procedure is carried out under a local anaesthetic, which once administered enables completely painless microsurgery. A narrow strip of hair bearing scalp is removed from the donor area (back or sides of the head) and with the use of a Binocular Stereoscopic Dissecting Microscope is divided into the various size follicular units.
