Mr.David Dunaway

Mr.David Dunaway

David Dunaway practices both privately and within the NHS His particular interests are in facial cosmetic surgery and reconstructive craniofacial surgery. He sits on the medical advisory committee of the Wellington Hospital.

David Dunaway undertakes most types of cosmetic surgery and has a particular interest in the face and nose along with surgery of the chin, jaws and cheeks.

In the NHS, he leads the world famous craniofacial unit at Great Ormond Street Hospital and treats adult patients with facial deformity at University College Hospital.

He is actively involved in the education of plastic surgeons in training and lectures widely within the UK and abroad

David Dunaway is a member of the British association of Plastic Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgeons, British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, the International Society of Craniofacial Surgery and the European Society of Craniofacial Surgery. Mr.David Floyd

Mr.David Floyd

David Floyd graduated from Cambridge University in 1985 and completed his medical degree at University College London in 1988. Following 4 years of General Surgical training he gained his FRCS in 1993. In 1995 he was awarded a Masters degree for his research into scarring and wound healing.

His specialist interests were developed with fellowships at Great Ormond Street Hospital in paediatric plastic surgery, The Royal Marsden Hospital in breast reconstruction and The Wellington Hospital in cosmetic surgery. He passed the FRCS (Plast) in 2001.

Mr Floyd entered the GMC Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery in 2002. He is a full member of the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS), the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) and the British Society of Surgery of the Hand (BSSH). He is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon and Honorary Senior Lecturer at The Royal Free Hospital and University College London Hospitals.

His particular interests include cosmetic surgery of the face, breast and abdomen, adult and paediatric hand surgery and reconstructive surgery of the breast and lower limb.

Mr.David Gault

Mr.David Gault

Formerly Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Mount Vernon and Great Ormond Street Hospital and Honorary Senior Lecturer at University College, London, Mr Gault now works purely in private practice.

Having trained in Plastic Surgery in London, Paris, California, and Tokyo, he has worked on a number of new technologies, including the first depilation laser and the new Plasma Skin Regeneration (PSR Portrait) device. He developed Ear Buddies, tiny splints to fix deformed or prominent (bat) ears at birth, and a technique to flush out leaked chemotherapy drugs which saves many limbs each year.

He undertakes aesthetic and reconstructive surgical procedures for both children and adults. About one third of procedures are for skin lesions and cancers, one third are purely cosmetic and one third are reconstructive – often to replace a missing ear.

An international authority on skin lasers and the correction of ear deformity, he has recently become a Visiting Professor.

Mr.Adrian Grobbelaar

Mr.Adrian Grobbelaar

He completed his higher surgical training first in General Surgery and then in Plastic Surgery at the Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa, where he obtained the South African Fellowship in Plastic Surgery from the South African College of Surgeons in 1993 as well as a higher research degree in Plastic Surgery from the University of Cape Town in 1993.

In 1994 he undertook an International Society of Aesthetic Surgery approved Fellowship with Mr. F. V. Nicolle in London. Further Plastic Surgery training was carried out at Mount Vernon Hospital in Northwood, Middlesex and he was awarded the FRCS(ad eundum) by the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1996 and the FRCS(Plast) in the same year.

He has been a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at the Mount Vernon Hospital Reconstructive, Plastic Surgery & Burns Unit from 1996 until October 2006 when the Mount Vernon Unit moved to its new home at the Royal Free Hospital Hampstead NHS Trust where he is now based as Programme Director & Clinical Lead.

Facial re-animation surgery as well as breast reconstruction constitutes his special interests in his NHS practice whilst in private practice he undertakes all aspects of cosmetic surgery in addition to reconstructive and microsurgery. He has published more than 60 papers in the medical literature and has written several chapters in textbooks on plastic surgery as well as the cosmetic surgery section in the Microsoft Encarta encylopædia.

Mr.Douglas H Harrison FRCS

Mr.Douglas H Harrison FRCS

Douglas Harrison qualified in medicine in 1967 at the Middlesex Hospital, London, following which he studied general surgery, obtaining FRCS in 1972.

After plastic surgical training in Mount Vernon Hospital and in Edinburgh, he was made a consultant plastic surgeon to Mount Vernon, Northwick Park, Edgware General and Barnet Hospitals, a post which he held until early 2006.

He has published extensively in reconstructive surgery and is an international authority on the treatment of facial palsy.

His other reconstructive interests relate to hand surgery, paediatric surgery and general reconstructive surgery. He has practised cosmetic surgery since 1979, with particular interest in facial cosmetic surgery, face lifting and rhinoplasty and also body contouring surgery to the breast and abdomen.

Mr Harrison is ably supported by nurses and secretaries in his private practice in central London.

Mr.Ciaran Healy

Mr.Ciaran Healy

Upon graduating from Trinity College Dublin medical school in 1981 Mr Healy gained experience in a range of surgical specialties prior to commencing training as a Plastic Surgeon. After initially working in Burns and Plastic Surgery Units in South Wales, Bristol and London, he spent two years in full time research into nerve injuries at the Middlesex Hospital Institute of Neurological Studies. This led to a prize winning project for which Mr Healy was awarded a Medical Doctorate. Recommencing Plastic Surgical training at Addenbrooke's Hospital, he was appointed as a Tutor in Anatomy at Gonville and Caius College Cambridge. Mr Healy completed his training across London hospitals including Mount Vernon, UCLH, Great Ormond Street, The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore and The Hand Clinic at Windsor. Since joining St Thomas' Hospital in 1996 as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon, Mr Healy has continued his professional training by attending meetings and courses and visiting other specialists in their units at home and abroad.

Mr Healy's current practice at the Wellington Hospital includes Cosmetic Surgery of the nose (rhinoplasty) and face (endoscopic brow lift, Coleman fat injection to the cheek and lips, face and neck lift etc) breast (enlargement and reduction), tummy tuck, lipo-suction and post obesity correction. As Plastic Surgeon to the Melanoma and Facial Skin Cancer teams at St Thomas' Hospital, Mr Healy uses Cosmetic surgery techniques while repairing the damage caused by cancer, particularly to the nose and face. Mr Healy's interest in peripheral nerve injury continues as he runs hand surgery clinics at both the Wellington and St Thomas's Hospitals. Mr Healy performs carpal tunnel decompressions, Dupuytrens contracture release and general hand surgery procedures.

Mr Healy's second decade in consultant practice has been enlivened by his role as Royal College of Surgeons Plastic Surgery Tutor. This involves working with his colleagues throughout the country in the development and delivery of higher surgical training in plastic surgery, ensuring that the next generation will have the knowledge and skills to deliver safe, expert cosmetic and plastic surgery care.

Mr.Lucian Ion

Mr.Lucian Ion

An experienced aesthetic surgeon, Mr. Ion trained in both Europe and the UK. He received his medical degree from the University of Bucharest and started his general and plastic surgical training in Paris where he studied in several prestigious hospitals. He continued his training in Britain and passed the examinations to become a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS). His advanced training in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery was completed in central London plastic surgery units covering all the aspects of the specialty. This training included a fellowship in aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery at The Wellington Hospital in London. In 2000 he was appointed to the position of Consultant Plastic Surgeon at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, where he holds his NHS post and routinely treats patients. He has published extensively in medical journals and has been invited to lecture and demonstrate at national and international meetings and centres, on topics of aesthetic and plastic surgery.

Mr. Ion is currently involved in research projects evaluating the role of 3-D photography for assessment and planning of facial surgery including rhinoplasty, implant surgery and rejuvenation, as well as planning for breast reshaping and liposuction. He strongly believes that developing tools that enhance communication helps patients understand, plan and decide regarding their surgery, particularly in sensitive areas like facial appearance where attention to detail cannot be over-emphasised.

His other research interests are related to the relatively complex approaches in management of lipodystrophy, a disabling condition affecting face and body. In his National Health position, Mr. Ion is actively involved in the multidisciplinary management of skin malignancies as well with general plastic surgery, reconstructive procedures and post-bariatric surgery body contouring. His areas of special interest include aesthetic surgery, face lift and facial sculpting, primary and secondary rhinoplasty, breast surgery, and reconstruction of post-bariatric problems.

Miss Barbara Jemec

Miss Barbara Jemec

Holds the post of Consultant Plastic and Hand Surgeon at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. She obtained her Medical Degree from Copenhagen University in 1991, but has undertaken all her post-graduate training in the UK.

She is the Chairman of the BAPRAS Overseas Service and Training Subcommittee, a member of Council for BAPRAS, BSSH, the Plastic Surgical section of the Royal Society of Medicine and the Specialist Training Committee for London. She also represents Plastic Surgery on the BMA Surgical Specialities Subcommittee of the BMA Central Consultants & Specialists Committee.

Ms Barbara Jemec’s areas of specialist interest include Aesthetic (body and breast), Plastic Reconstructive (breast and gynaecology) and Hand Surgery including reconstruction of complex trauma, tendon and nerve surgery. At the Wellington Hospital she has pioneered the weekly One Stop Carpal Tunnel clinic with a Consultant Neuro-Physiologist and Specialist Hand Therapist.

Mr.Niall Kirkpatrick

Mr.Niall Kirkpatrick

Consultant Plastic surgeon in the Craniofacial & Orbito-Palpebral Surgery Unit at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London, where he is the lead clinician, Mr.Kirkpatrick is a member of the multidisciplinary team for the management of skin cancers at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. He is also a Consultant Plastic surgeon at Charing Cross Hospital, London, where he is a member of the Head and Neck Unit. He qualified in both Medicine (MBBS) in 1990, and Dentistry (BDS) in 1984, from Guy's Hospital, University of London. After completing training in General surgery and becoming a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in 1996, he trained in Plastic surgery and was accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Plast) in 2001.

During his Plastic surgery training, Mr Kirkpatrick obtained specialist training fellowships in Craniofacial surgery at both Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, and the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, and in Head and Neck surgery at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London. He also obtained a specialist training fellowship in Aesthetic surgery at the Wellington Hospital, London.

Mr.Raj Ragoowansi

Mr.Raj Ragoowansi

Mr Ragoowansi is a Consultant Plastic, Aesthetic & Hand Surgeon at the Royal London and Barts Hospital. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from St Thomas’ Hospital Medical School, London with the final year elective spent at Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. He was awarded the Smith & Nephew Surgical Prize for a dissertation on ‘Evolution of Sutures in Surgery’.

After completion of training in General Surgery and the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS), higher training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery was undertaken in London, East Grinstead and Chelmsford. This involved specialist exposure in reconstructive surgery of the breast, face, hands and trunk. International fellowships in Hand and Wrist surgery were undertaken in USA, France and India. Formal Aesthetic Surgery training was acquired at the Royal College of Surgeons approved institutions; Wellington Hospital and King Edward VII Hospital, London.

Mr.Norman Waterhouse

Mr.Norman Waterhouse

Mr Norman Waterhouse graduated from Birmingham University Medical School in 1978. After four years of training in general surgery he qualified as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in 1982. His higher surgical training in Plastic Surgery was carried out in Bristol and London as well as periods spent at specialist centres in Bordeaux, Adelaide and Tokyo. In 1988 he completed his accreditation and gained the Specialist Fellowship in Plastic Surgery (FRCS Plas).

Following this specialist accreditation his first appointment as Consultant in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery was to St Bartholomew's and The Royal London Hospitals. He has since been appointed as Consultant to the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital where he leads the specialist Craniofacial Unit treating all forms of facial conditions. Facial surgery constitutes his special interest in his NHS practice whilst in private practice he undertakes all aspects of cosmetic surgery in addition to reconstructive and Craniofacial surgery.

He lectures nationally and internationally and teaches techniques of modern cosmetic surgery including endoscopic (keyhole) surgery. Since 1996 he has organised the Annual Instructional Course in Cosmetic Surgery at the Wellington Hospital. He is a full member of the British Association of Plastic Surgeons (BAPS), the European Craniofacial Society, the International Society of Craniofacial Surgery and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. He is the President of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS). He is included in the specialist register established by the GMC in 1995.
